I've wanted to tell you this for awhile, but there have been things standing in my way. Like how to get a video ready to post to a blog, and then how to post it.
The story goes like this.....
I got tickets to an early screening of Streisand's new film, The Guilt Trip, before it opened, and I don't know if I can go. Why? Because they were for the weekend that my Mother died. After she passed on Friday, I thought that I could use the smile, and enjoy some time away from my house. On Sunday, with my niece Felicia in tow, we headed to the west side of town. I knew there was going to be a "LIVE feed interview" piped into all the theaters across the country after the film...but I didn't know they were filming at the screening I was at.
After the movie, Barbra, Seth Rogan and an interviewer come in and started the taping, as we all sat there in awe. I positioned myself to be about 2-3 feet from where Barbra was going to exit the theater. While it was going on, I saw Barbra's assistant of 35+ years, Renata and she had Barbra's dog Samantha. I talked to Renata and got to pet Samantha, and show her my tattoo!
I thought maybe she would tell Barbra about it in the limo on the ride home. Well, as it turns out, I got to show it to Barbra myself!
As they were trying to get Barbra out, and among all the screaming of her name, I managed to get one memorable moment with her. I was about three feet from her, and as she she being rushed out, I said, "Barbra!....look at my tattoo"! She stopped, spun around and said, "Tattoo"? I held up my arm so she could see it, and she said, "WOW! That's extreme.....but I love it"! I put my hand on hers, (it was on the shoulder of the security guy between us), and said, "I love you". She smiled and then was gone. It only lasted 10 seconds, but that's all I needed.
I turned to Felicia, who's grin was a mile wide, and said, "Mom just gave me that moment,THANK YOU Mom"!
My sadness lifted for the next day or two, and I kept thinking about what a great and wonderful angel I now had watching over me. She knew I needed that moment, right then and there. She's good. She's REALLY good!
About a week later, Barbra mentioned me and the tattoo in an interview.....
So...there you have it all rolled up in a nice little present. A sad boy realizing that his guardian angel was watching out for him.
