I grew up in a house where we didn't drink on holidays. There was an occasional hot buttered rum around Christmas, but never wine on the table. I basically grew up not drinking. I got to collage and tasted beer for the first time, I hated then and still do today. I'm still not a wine drinker, but I do like mixed drinks!. Turns out, with this drinking thing.....I'm pretty good at it! I'm very social with it, getting together with friends for an occasional cocktail, and going out for drinks in New York City has become a fun thing to do.
Recently, I've decided to start building up a bar. I had no place in the house to put a big bar, so I found a corner in the dining room and built it out of old pieces of furnature that I wasn't crazy about.
Started with this old thing, that was stuffed with 1o years of old Vanity Fair magazines.
This is a tall piece that I also thought would work. Here, I'm painting it with chalkboard paint that Joe made for me.
As I was painting it, I found this 22, which led to me naming the bar, "22 Bar".
So this is the bar! Not fully stocked yet, but on it's way.
Because the entire piece is painted in chalkboard paint, I plan on adding a few more "chalk" decorations on the side, maybe list alcohols and liquors?
So, excuse me while I go get my drink on!

Wow - what an amazing transformation; it turned out REALLY AWESOME! ¡Salud!
